Is It Just Me, or Has LinkedIn Turned Into a Bit of a Mood Hoover?

I’ve got a confession.

Lately, I’ve been totally uninspired to post on social media — and I say that as someone who literally does this for a living.

Especially LinkedIn. Oh LinkedIn... what happened?

What used to feel like a place for connection, insights and genuine support is now feeling more like a battlefield of hot takes, humblebrags and the same tired messages on loop. You know the ones:

“I failed, I got back up, now I’m a millionaire with perfect hair.”

“If you’re not hustling, are you even trying?”

Insert awkward AI headshot and vague inspirational quote here.

Meanwhile, the comment sections? Oof. Less “Let’s lift each other up” and more “Let’s have a petty argument with a stranger before breakfast.” Honestly, I can’t tell if I’m on LinkedIn or lurking in the Daily Mail comments section.

And here’s the thing…
I want to post. I want to connect. I’ve got things to say! But every time I go to type something out, I either second guess myself, delete it halfway through or just close the tab and make a cuppa instead.

Because what’s the point when the engagement is… tumbleweed?

Little to no likes, no comments, and that sad moment when your husband texts you to say “I liked it!” (Thanks, hub.)

I’ve been wondering if it’s just me.
Maybe I’ve lost my spark. Maybe the algorithm's ghosting me. Or maybe — just maybe — it’s a common phase a lot of us are going through right now.

Social media can be brilliant… but it can also be a bit of a soul-sapper when you're not in the right headspace. Especially when you’re putting in effort and getting very little back. That can feel really deflating.

So here I am. Sharing it honestly. Because I think a lot of people feel this way, but not many of us say it out loud.

So, what now?

Well, I’m not giving up. I’m just… regrouping.
Taking a little break from “creating content” and leaning more into “real connection.” Less performing, more being.

I’m starting small. A chat in the DMs. A comment on someone else's post that actually means something. And when I do post again? It’ll be something I care about — not something I think the algorithm wants.

So if you’ve been feeling the same… you're not alone.

You haven’t lost your voice.
You haven’t lost your value.
And no, your content isn’t rubbish — the online world’s just a bit noisy right now.

Let’s keep it real, support each other, and remember that genuine beats perfect every single time.

See you back in the feed soon… probably still with a cup of tea in hand ☕😉
