There are so many online tools available, all claiming to save us time or make life easier. Here are five top-picks!
1. Signing documents – HelloSign
Electronic signatures and online notarization became legal in the UK in July 2000, following the Electronic Communications Act 2000. As someone who works remotely I love anything that means less paper cluttering up my desk and most importantly for clients, it saves time.
Hello Sign allows you to send three documents a month for free or for $13 a month you can send an unlimited number. It easily integrates with Dropbox, Google Docs and Evernote, and when the document has been fully executed everyone gets a copy. Simple!
2. File depository – Dropbox
Dropbox is widely used now for online file storage and sharing, but I still marvel at how much easier it has made working life. Gone are the days of emailing huge files to colleagues, only for them to email them all back again, or to be working off-site without the one file you need!
Dropbox securely backs up data, always gives you access to your files wherever you are, restores deleted items, allows you to view only the files you need on mobile and share content in the blink of an eye. I would be totally lost without it.
3. The quickest route – Citymapper (app)
If you’re a regular visitor to the Capital, the Citymapper app is a must. Input any journey and it will not only show you the route, but also estimate the time it’ll take you to get there. It gives you bus route numbers, colour coded tube icons, great maps, options for fast or quiet routes. It shows live departure boards, tube status updates, weather forecasts and live docking station maps for bike hire users. What more could you want to move deftly around London!
4. Brainstorm with MindMeister
If you love brainstorming you’ll love this free mind mapping tool which lets you brainstorm online and collaborate easily with colleagues. It also has a handy feature to turn your mind map into a presentation for exporting or sharing online. Very simple to use!
5. Capture images and record video – Jing
Ever wanted to capture your computer screen but add your own annotation, or record a video or tutorial which includes your mouse cursor moving about the screen? Jing lets you do all of this for free (or pay $15 a year to remove the Jing branding) and sharing your url takes no time at all. If you need more than ‘Print Screen’ and ‘Paste’, this one is for you.
