Ten years since I took a deep breath, had a quiet word with myself, and thought “right then, let’s give this a go.”
It’s been a proper mix. Some brilliant highs. Lovely clients who’ve become more than clients. Work I genuinely enjoy. That feeling when you see a business growing and you know you’ve had a hand in it. Those days make it all worth it.
And then there’s been the other bits. The wobbles. The quiet months where you refresh your emails a bit too often. The times I said yes when I really should’ve said no. And of course the classic question… “So what do you actually do?” 😅
Self-employed life isn’t all working in pyjamas with a laptop and a brew. Some days you graft. Some days you doubt yourself. Some days you wonder why you didn’t just get a nice safe job with paid holidays. Then you remember why you did this in the first place and you crack on.
Because honestly, starting my own VA business was the best decision I ever made. It’s given me growth I never expected, flexibility I truly value, and a level of fulfilment I didn’t get before. No Sunday night dread. No squeezing life around work. Work fits around life, as it should.
Ten years in and I’m still here. Still learning. Still grateful. Still loving what I do.
