As we enter the 2nd Covid lockdown this year my heart sinks….
I am a Virtual Assistant and have been for nearly 5 years now so you’d think I’m used to the isolation and lack of human contact right? I chose this career so I must be ok with it right?
Actually, Virtual Assistants aren’t isolated. They can work from anywhere with a wifi signal such as a café, a restaurant, a shopping centre, even an airport. They can attend regular face to face meetings at their clients offices. They can visit venues when researching for an event. They can accompany a client to a meeting to act as minute taker. These are just some of the many scenario’s a VA might undertake for their client base. Its these moments that I cherish in my job…the human contact.
Us VA’s have also been doing Zoom etc for “donkeys” so this isn’t new territory we are heading into during lockdown. However, its just not the same as conversing with a person face to face and laughing over a shared joke is it?
There will be no more nipping to the shops during a break, meeting a friend for a quick coffee after their school drop off, popping in to see the parents or a “sesh” at the gym between projects.
With no children and a key worker husband its down to me to create my routine for the next 4-weeks. So, what to do? Well I’ve never been much of a gym bunny and it takes a mountain of will power to get me to one so exercising will feel like a chore on my own. We’ve recently moved house so decorating looks to be my saviour. The dark nights don’t help either do they…bring on Christmas much to my husbands delight! NOT!
Whatever you do for a job, wherever you are in the world, remember you are not alone. We will get through this and smile together once again 🙂
Much love
The Lockdown VA
